Russian President Vladimir Putin takes notes while being introduced by Gavin O'Reilly. Indirectly addressing criticisms of Russian press freedom, Putin said "the grandiose character" of changes in Russia since the 1990s cannot be underestimated and that "without the free press, such large-scale changes cannot be possible." He said "our people has chosen democracy, and the freedom of press is the character of democracy."
